PERSONAL FREEDOM
Whenever I hear the phrase personal freedom, the first thing that pops into my mind is Government tyranny. I have spent a great deal of time studying how governments begin to erode freedoms, then fail and people end up falling into horrible circumstances created by those who were supposed to lead, guide and protect them. Our personal freedoms are paramount. The framers of the Declaration of Independence and our beloved Constitution understood this, placing our voice at the beginning of the list and then placing as no 2 our ability to back it up, with force, when necessary.
I respect personal freedoms as I understand how important they are in the grand scheme of things and will fight to protect them, all of them, even in the small scale of things. Take for instance my opponent vigorously advocating to take away the freedom of local businesses to sell tobacco products, in favor of his working to support the decision of the Centracare Board where he is a member. With his support of this resolution he was restricting business owners freedom and the freedom of their customers to purchase a legal product within the city limits.
I do not have conflicts as I am no longer on any board that would create a conflict with my ability to fully represent the people of the city of St Cloud. I will honor my oath and make sure that the freedoms of the citizens come first.

Personal freedom is often defined as freedom of the person in going and coming, equality before the courts, security of private property, freedom of opinion and its expression. Remember it must be protected EVERYDAY!
